Field notes from the front lines of fatherhood.

A weekly conversation for dads doing the work — figuring out how to be present, how to communicate, how to keep the play in it, and how to stay curious instead of clenched. The conversations our fathers couldn't have, in the language men actually use.

What we do

A craft nobody handed us a manual for.

Daddy Ops is a weekly conversation for dads doing the work — figuring out how to be present, how to communicate, how to keep the play in it, how to stay curious instead of clenched. We talk about the stuff our fathers couldn't, in the language men actually use.

No gurus. No scripts. No life-coach voice. Just two friends starting a dialogue on fatherhood, comparing notes on a craft nobody handed us a manual for. The episodes are long. The questions are real. The point is presence — yours, ours, our kids', our partners'.

"Carrying the weight without becoming the weight. The difference is everything."

If you've ever sat in your car for an extra five minutes before walking in the door — this is for you. If you've ever wanted to call another dad at 11 p.m. and didn't, because you didn't have the words — this is for you. If you want to be the kind of father your father didn't get to be — this is for you.

The pillars

Four operating principles.

i.

Presence

Showing up isn't a metaphor. It's the work — the boring, daily, on-the-floor-with-Legos work.

ii.

Curiosity

Stay a student. Of your kids, your partner, yourself. Certainty is where dads go to disappear.

iii.

Responsibility

Carrying the weight without becoming the weight. The difference is everything.

iv.

Play

If they're not laughing with you, you're missing the point. Fun is part of the assignment.

Who we are

For dads. On a mission.

Hank Lutz

Co-host · Dad of [N] · [City]

[A real paragraph here — what Hank does for work, what he's been through that brought him to this conversation, what he's still figuring out. Magazine-bio voice — specific, lived-in, not hype.]

Mileen Patel

Co-host · Dad of [N] · [City]

[A real paragraph here — same shape. What Mileen does, what shaped him, the angle he comes in from. The pair of these reads like a set of contributor notes in a print magazine.]
